Sore muscles are not much fun, especially after a great day of riding!

essential oils can make your body feel better after a hard ride.Luckily, there are a few things you can do at home to help ease the pain. Here are 7 home remedies for sore muscles.

Warm Bath – throw a little Epsom salt in the tub and grab a book to enjoy. 20 minutes in a hot bath could ease all your aches and pains away. If you want to get fancy, you can add some essential oils, like lavender, eucalyptus, or rosemary. 

Ice Massage – you can use ice cubes, or if you want to step it up a notch, fill a paper or styrofoam cup partway with water and freeze. You can rip off the cup layer and have a great ball of ice to rub over your sore muscles. Ice combats muscle inflammation, so it will make you feel temporarily better until you heal. You can use ice for 20 minutes at a time, rubbing it in the direction the muscle runs. This will help you stretch the muscle while you numb the pain.

Ibuprofen – not all of us love using a medication, but some days it is necessary. Ibuprofen also relieves inflammation, so you can move around after a hard day on the bike. man being massaged

Massage – who doesn’t love a good massage to ease the pain in your muscles. It is better with some essential oils. Lavender, rosemary, eucalyptus, or ginger are all great for increasing blood flow, removing toxins, and relieving pain in those sore areas. Plus, they smell great!

Sports Cream – Tiger Balm or Icy Hot both work wonders on areas that are feeling a little stiff and sore. Rub these balms into the affected areas and let them do their magic. 

Easy cycling can help overcome those sore musclesHeating Pad – This is a great method for those times when your sore muscles last 48 hours after your ride. Use this for 20 minutes at a time as many times during the day as you need it.

More Exercise – the hair of the dog might just be the kick you need to get past those sore muscles. If you’re feeling stiff and sore, try going out for a light and easy ride. Be sure to stretch before and after that ride too. The key to this is not to overdo it.
